Boston Schooners Ready To Set Sail
October 26, 2026
After thirty seasons and two Stanley Cup championships, the Boston Colonials are no more.
As the team enters a new era, management has been working closely with the league on updating their identity. The team no longer wished to be associated with the Colonials moniker, and has instead elected to honour another big part of Boston's history - the Boston Harbour. For centuries, the Boston Harbour has been home to ships of all kinds, so the team has taken on the Boston Schooners nickname.
'We wanted a new look to coincide with a new era,' explained Schooners GM John Rose. 'We are building the team around a young core - Alexander Ovechkin, Duncan Keith, and Patrice Bergeron in particular, so the timing felt right.'
'I like boats,' added Stephen Gionta - known around the league and especially within his own family as the shitty Gionta compared to his brother Brian, who also plays for the Schooners.
The team will have two logos - the Schooner and the scripted B. Both feature a dark brown and light blue colour pallete, highlighted by the teams traditional yellow.
