Clowe Claims Calder

By Commish (Denver), October 29, 2026

The Calder Trophy was handed our prior to Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals, and it was Minnesota's Ryane Clowe who was named RSHA's Rookie of the Year. The Northern Lights winger scored 28 goals and added 33 assists for 61 points, while also posting a +12 rating and throwing 145 hits in 77 games. That was good enough to edge out a competitive field of rookies, where six different players earned at least one first place vote. Clowe was also a force when dropping the gloves, finished with 4 wins, 2 losses, and 6 draws in 12 scraps this year.

Chicago's Zach Parise came in second in the vote after leading rookies in points with 65 (tied with Philly's Evgeni Malkin), narrowly losing out to Clowe. Toronto's Joffrey Lupul, who led rookies in goals with 31, came in third.
